Out of respect for the communities near our facilities, the Englobe team has implemented nuisance-limiting work practices. We believe this proactive upstream approach is in keeping with our care for our communities, and allows our projects to be widely accepted and positively viewed.
The Englobe team delivers innovative solutions that incorporate the use of recycled materials, namely low-contaminated or decontaminated soils and fertilizing residual materials (FRMs), to recreate a substrate conducive to plant growth. The cross-combination of soils and FRMs provides rooting support for vegetation and essential nutrients for plant cover. Aside from enhancing degraded sites, the use of recycled materials is environmentally, economically and socially important.
When rehabilitating degraded sites, the Englobe team draws on our extensive expertise to suggest a restoration approach. We focus on reusing and recycling materials rather than further depleting natural resources.
Our revegetation solution was developed in the late 1990s, when Englobe was already recognized as a pioneer in FRM reclamation in the agricultural sector. At that time, our team explored and tested FRM use to revegetate abandoned mining sites.
Building on this research, our team provided various cover options to mine sites with acid leachate generation problems. De-inking sludge was used as a waterproofing layer in tailings sealing projects prior to surface revegetation. Later, we also covered and revegetated multiple sanitary landfills and dry material disposal sites, when these sites were forced to close due to new design standards.
This wealth of experience and innovation continues to set us apart. We are experienced in recommending work and proposing solutions that minimize a project’s environmental footprint while also delivering significant economic and ecological benefits.
Site rehabilitation obligations under the Regulation respecting the landfilling and incineration of residual materials (RLIRM), the Regulation respecting sand pits and quarries (RSPQ) and the Mining Act are now providing opportunities to call on our Englobe team and its more than 25 years of expertise.
