The story of Englobe

From our roots in Québec to our national presence today, our proximity to communities and our spirit of radical caring continue to define who we are.

Sustainability is in our DNA

Englobe has always been guided by a desire to build a sustainable future, one project at a time. For more than 60 years, our story has been shaped by strong relationships, close ties to the communities where we live and serve, and unwavering environmental responsibility.

At Englobe, sustainability is in our DNA. Regardless of our scale, caring for people and the planet remains at the heart of our mission and continues to shape how we grow, how we serve, and how we build relationships with our business partners.

  1. 1952–2013

    Where we began

Our roots run deep in Canada, with origins stretching back to Atlantic Canada in 1952 and to Laval, Québec, where Laboratoires Ville-Marie was founded in 1961. In those early years, our work centred on materials, soil remediation, and environmental services. This practical, grounded expertise — developed close to the land and to the communities we served — shaped the character of Englobe from the outset.

  2. 2014 – 2017

    One company takes shape

In 2014, Englobe had 370 employees but none in professional services. That same year, two major milestones helped shape modern Englobe by bringing together complementary strengths in environmental and infrastructure services. The acquisition of LVM assets and the launch of the unified Englobe brand marked the first steps in bringing people, practices, and expertise together under a single identity. Together, these events helped nurture the one-team mindset that would support Englobe’s next stage of growth.

  3. 2018 – 2021

Delivering more services to more communities

Between 2018 and 2021, Englobe completed seven acquisitions across Atlantic Canada, Ontario, and Western Canada. These new partnerships broadened both our footprint and our capabilities in areas such as transportation, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. With each new chapter, Englobe became better equipped to support clients and communities through a broader, more multidisciplinary offer.

  4. 2023 – 2024

    A new chapter takes shape

In 2023, we made the strategic decision to build a dedicated Professional Services platform, sharpening Englobe’s focus on high-quality multidisciplinary engineering and environmental services. In July 2024, we also entered a new strategic relationship with Toronto-based Colliers. Together, these developments marked an important new phase in our story, bringing greater focus to the business and a clearer framework for the next stage of our growth.

  5. 2024 - today

A national platform rooted in care

Today, Englobe has grown into a truly national multidisciplinary engineering platform with nearly 4,000 team members working in close to 80 business locations across Canada. This reach has expanded our ability to deliver multidisciplinary engineering and environmental services all over the country, while maintaining the strong local footprint and regional proximity that have always been central to how we work.
